Merry The Great Pumpkin, was written by Betty Jean Rothenberger.   She and her husband, Maynard Rothenberger opened Merrymead Farm Market in 1971.  Writing poems and letters was one of Betty Jean's  gifts.  It only seemed right for her to author a book about a special pumpkin who was planted here at Merrymead.  Throughout the story, you will see Merry grow, not just maturing in size, but also in his understanding that with patience he could be the greatest thing for all boys and girls to visit here at Merrymead.  The illustrations are by Bill Bourne, a local Worcester resident who is well known for his murals and paintings throughout the area.  Merry The Great Pumpkin Book will be available for purchase the night of the Lighting.
